Root Cause Analysis

The core vulnerability was an authorization bypass in subscription handling. The patches add critical user context validation in two REST handlers:

Subscribe() - Added check comparing context user with subscription.UserId
SearchSubscriptions() - Added authentication check and forced user ID filtering These functions directly handle user-controlled subscription parameters without proper authorization checks in the vulnerable version, matching the CWE-639 description of authorization bypass through user-controlled keys. The changes precisely address missing authentication/authorization checks in the subscription management endpoints.
