The vulnerability stems from plaintext storage of OAuth credentials in Jenkins' config.xml. The commit diff shows:

The 'marshal' function originally wrote 'clientSecret' directly to XML (CVE trigger)
Deprecated plaintext 'clientSecret' field with @Deprecated annotations
Added encrypted 'secretClientSecret' field with proper Secret handling
Updated config.jelly to bind to the encrypted field These changes indicate the pre-patch functions handling 'clientSecret' without encryption were the vulnerable components.
